After discovering DNA and understanding how various technologies can manage it, many scientists have begun to make various modifications in everything that does not suit them in some organisms. So today, for example, we have crops that are sown with a special seed that is resistant to a special pesticide to protect the crop from various insects and weeds. However, since these modifications mostly happen behind the eyes of the public and their benevolence is questionable, many scientists are doing various studies on GMO products to prove that not everything is benevolent as companies portray. By the very knowledge that research is being done on GMO organisms, many media come to various information that has no valid basis, and thus to conspiracy theories that they publish primarily for the sake of a large number of readers. In order to clarify the doubts related to these conspiracies, the aim of this research will be to mention some important facts about the discovery and modification of DNA and conspiracy theories in general, and then to mention some conspiracy theories related to GMOs in Croatia and in the world. We will then present a study conducted to determine the level of knowledge of students at the Faculty of Education in Osijek about conspiracy theories related to GMOs and whether these conspiracy theories, which they heard, have an impact on formulating their attitude towards GMOs. After the research, the survey revealed that students at the Faculty of Education in Osijek have a rather uncertain level of knowledge about conspiracy theories related to GMOs, and this uncertainty has a great influence on the formulation of their attitude towards GMOs.
