The occurence and the spread of infectious diseases nowadays is reduced to a minimum thanks to the active immunisation which has been conducted for years and thanks to good vaccination coverage between population. Today, vaccination against certain infectious diseases is obligatory and this is what causes rebellion between people, precisely, between parents. Based on the Law for protection of population against infectious diseases, children in primary school have to be vaccinated against measles, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, tetanus, polio and hepatitis B. Parents are the ones making decisions to vaccinate their children since, according to the law, children do not have the right and are not independent until they are eighteen years old. For this reason, it is important to further inform parents about the importance of vaccination in people's lives, to broaden their knowledge about vaccines and infectious diseases and in that way form positive attitudes towards vaccination itself. The objective of this research was to examine the knowledge about and attitudes towards vaccination of parents of primary school students and to identify vaccine coverage between primary school students. Furthermore, the research wanted to draw attention to the role of teachers in informing parents and students about infectious diseases and vaccination. Fifty parents of students in Primary school Eugena Kumičića in Slatina participated in the research. Method used was an anonymous survey questionnaire which consisted of three parts. First part of the research examined demographic and socioeconomic factors, the second part examined attitudes and the third part the parents' knowledge about vaccination. Research shows that parents vaccine their children regularly in accordance with the Continuous vaccination calendar (100%) and that almost all parents claim they would vaccine their children even if it was not their legal obligation (90%). Almost all of the participants agree with vaccination being one of the most effective public health measures (88%) and say that they collect most of the information from health care professionals. Research conducted by Kulić and co. (2019) and research from this thesis confirm the existence of positive attitudes towards vaccination between participants. This research confirms that regardless of parents' knowledge about vaccination being at an unsatisfactory level, vaccine coverage remains at a high level.
