Abstract (english) | There is not much research that says what is the relationship of tolerance with personality traits in future teachers. In order to find out more about this issue, a study was conducted to examine the relationship between tolerance and different personality traits in future teachers. Two problems were posed in this study. The first problem was to determine the association of tolerance with different personality traits, and the second problem was to determine whether there were differences in tolerance with respect to the number of siblings and with respect to the year of study attended by participants. 123 students of the first (16.3%), second (9.8%), third (11.4%), fourth (26%) and fifth (36.6%) year of the Faculty of Education participated in the research, Teacher Training in Osijek. The sample consisted of 95.1% females and 4.9% males ranging in age from 19 to 28 years with a mean age of 22.32 (SD = 1.87). Participants completed an online questionnaire consisting of three parts. The first part was related to the general data of the participants, the second part was the Questionnaire for self-assessment of tolerance towards some forms of behavior of family members (Krizmanić and Kolesarić, 2005) and the third part was the NEO Personality Inventory (Costa and McCrae, 1992). To determine the degree of association between tolerance and different personality traits, the Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated. In order to determine whether there are differences in tolerance with regard to the number of siblings and with regard to the year of study, t - tests were calculated. The results of the research showed that there is no statistically significant correlation between tolerance and personality traits and that there are no differences in tolerance with regard to the number of siblings and with regard to the year of study that the participants attended. |
