Every household in today’s world has at least one TV. Original role of television was entertainment, but television today is becoming a big part of childhood and even child rearing . Children today spend their childhood much differently than children did just a few decades ago. Although our first thought is that it is not right that the game outside has been replaced by television and the Internet, it can be said that children today are more informed and richer in knowledge. This brings us very question of what role television plays in the rearing of kindergarten-age children. The goal of this assignment is to review the literature and TV content to gain better understanding off what content TV programs offer children and does that content have an educational role and whether that role is positive or negative. Television is becoming the leading medium of the second half of the 20th and the first decade of the 21st century almost all over the world. Because of that we are not surprised by the fact that television plays a big role in lives of all generations, including the youngest ones. Today on television we can find numerous content intended for children of kindergarten age. From numerous children's shows, animated films and cartoons to entire programs dedicated to content only for children. In this assignment we will dive deeper into the contents that are primarily intended for children of kindergarten age and explore them and their role. Importance of parents and institutions and their role in children’s media education will also be mentioned in this assignment. It is extremely important that parents follow the content that their children watch as well as to regulate the time that children spend on TV.
