This thesis provides an overview of Croatian onomastic terminology and examines the hodonomy of the municipality of Sibinj. The primary goal is thus, from an onomastic standpoint, to determine the origin of the names of the streets and squares in the municipality of Sibinj. Based on the name material collected, it was determined how much the hodonyms were inspired by: local, regional, national, and foreign characteristics. Given that both linguistic and non-linguistic factors influence the name's selection and form, a brief historical overview of the Municipality of Sibinj and its settlements was provided. Hodonyms were classified into three types based on their naming motivation: those with an anthroponymic component, those with a toponymic component, and those with a component that is neither an anthroponym nor a toponym (other hodonyms). The previously stated groups were then further subdivided into smaller subgroups based on the component or category of the hodonym. Furthermore, the paper classified anthroponyms based on the occupations of the people they were named after. The findings suggest that hodonyms not only play an orientational role, but also have a significant impact on the identity of each settlement.
