Kindergarten is a place of joyful living and learning for children and adults. The educational group is a place for developing relationships, dialogue, tolerance, respect and appreciation of other people's opinions. Given that the subjects of most of the research conducted on relationships in the educational group are adults, the results are subjective. It is precisely for these reasons that the relationships between children and children's perception of leadership were studied in this paper. The aim of the first part of the empirical research was to determine the position of children in the educational group through the sociometric technique. The second part of the research was related to an interview with children, on the basis of which we investigated how children understand the concept of leadership, whether they recognize it in their environment (kindergarten, family, home), whether they recognize it in themselves and what characteristics leaders state. Considering the sociometric technique we used to collect data to investigate children's relationships within the group and their popularity, we obtained a high correlation with the research on children's leadership perspective. Children of preschool age in the educational group that is parto f research understand the concept of leadership and are able to interpret it. In their environment, the leaders are mostly adults who have authority over them and who are their idols that they want to follow. As characteristics of leaders, they list people who are smart, organized, social, fun, creative and have authority over others.
