Istraživanje je provedeno u svibnju i lipnju 2022. godine u četiri osnovne škole: Osnovna škola „Dragutin Tadijanović“, Osnovna škola „Ivan Goran Kovačić“, Osnovna škola Hugo Badalić i Osnovna škola „Ivana Brlić Mažuranić“. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 216 učenika sedmih i osmih razreda. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da mnogi mladi koriste bosanske izraze, većinom u šali s prijateljima i obitelji. Većina ih koristi engleske riječi i izraze, uglavnom s prijateljima. Srpski izrazi nisu u tolikoj mjeri zastupljeni u govoru mladih. Mladi u svome govoru koriste izraze iz videoigrica i filmova/serija. Glazba i društvene mreže također utječu na njihov govor. Mladi smatraju da trebaju više koristiti i njegovati svoj jezik. Oni svoj govor prilagođavaju određenim situacijama.
Abstract (english) Young people use specific language and speech to express their group identity and to show that they are different in certain situations and to point out their uniqueness and individuality. Differences between generations are visible in the language elements often used by different age groups. The use of slang, colloquialisms, foreign words and vulgarisms are the most prominent features of young people's language. Urban dialects are created by intertwining regional, in other words dialectal features with elements of standard language, under the influence of social factors and suppress less prestigious rural speech characteristics. Young people mainly use words and expressions from popular culture that spread through social networks, media, music and movies, they expand their vocabulary with foreign expressions to differ from the older age group. Dialectology as a branch of linguistics that studies and describes dialects and local dialects of a language, also provides many non-linguistic conclusions: about the origin of the population, about relations between the population, about conditions and way of life, about connections in cultural events. Slavonski Brod, a town on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, experienced numerous migrations during and after the Independence War when the number of Croat refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina increased sharply. Residents of Bosanska Posavina who moved to Slavonski Brod brought with them their speech and language specifics and became the majority speakers of Slavonski Brod. The aim of the research is to describe the speech of young people in Slavonski Brod in 2022. The research was conducted in May and June 2022. in four primary schools: Primary School "Dragutin Tadijanović", Primary School "Ivan Goran Kovačić", Primary School Hugo Badalić and Primary School "Ivana Brlić Mažuranić". 216 seventh and eighth grade students participated in the study. The results of the research show that many young people use Bosnian expressions, mostly with friends and family and for fun. Most of them use English words and expressions, mostly with friends. Serbian expressions are not so represented in the speech of young people. Young people use expressions from video games and movies / series in their speech. Music and social networks also influence young people’s speech. Young people feel that they need to use and nurture their language more. They adapt their speech to certain situations.
