Abstract
U radu se opisuje važnost neverbalne komunikacije u razvoju govora djece sa sindromom Down (SD). U prvom dijelu rada definirana je i opisana neverbalna komunikacija, njezine sastavnice, te njezine funkcije i važnost. Dalje su opisana obilježja sindroma Down, govorne sposobnosti djece sa SD, te dosad istražene metode za komunikaciju s djecom sa SD. U drugom dijelu rada opisan je postupak provođenja istraživanja i dobiveni rezultati. Instrument ovog istraživanja je polu-strukturirani intervju, a ispitanici su roditelji djece sa SD i stručnjaci koji rade s takvom djecom. Cilj istraživanja je doznati utjecaj neverbalne komunikacije na razvoj govora djece sa SD, metode kojima se roditelji i stručnjaci koriste u tom procesu, te koji su najčešći neverbalni signali koji se odašilju djeci sa SD.
Abstract (english)
The paper describes the importance of nonverbal communication in speech development in children with Down syndrome (DS). Definition of nonverbal communication and its components, functions and importance are explained in the first part of the paper. The characteristics of Down syndrome, speech abilities of children with DS, and methods for communication with children with DS that have been studied so far are described further on this paper. The second part of the paper describes research procedure and the obtained results. The instrument of this research is a semi-structured interview, and the respondents are parents of children with DS and experts who work with such children. The aim of the research is to find out the influence of non-verbal communication on the speech development of children with DS, the methods used by parents and experts in that process, and what are the most common non-verbal signals sent to children with DS.
