Coordination is the most important motor skill, because it participates in the implementation of each motor structure, from the simplest to the most complex forms of motions. It is also called "motor intelligence". Good coordination of a child can be recognized if it moves easily in the space, if his motor skills are in their order, as well as nicely time managed and controlled. Preschool children develop coordination through activities such as elementary and relay-race games, manipulative movements with a ball and through the fundamental movement skills. The development of coordination is one of the important tasks of physical education. Today, more and more attention is paid to systematic planning of the process of exercise for preschool children since it is known that the multilateral psychosomatic development in early childhood is of great importance for other aspects of growth and development. The aim of this thesis is to define the motor coordination, examine the level of coordination in children 4-5 years old, and possible differences in regard to gender and involvement in kinesiological activities. A research was conducted in which, in order to identify changes and the impact of sports program on the development of coordination of preschool children, the data was collected for 50 children, with average age of 4.69 years (SD = 0.36), divided into two subgroups (regular and sports program). In each of the subsamples were 11 boys and 14 girls, and 9 children who attend 2-3 times a week additional kinesiological activities. Methods that were used for the assessment of coordination are polygon backwards and standing long jump. Research data has been processed by factor analysis, T-test for independent samples and tri-factor analysis of variance. The results showed that the level of coordination of children is in accordance with current research. Both motor tests showed there is a difference between children who attend different kindergarten groups and implement different program content. Children who attend the sports group are extremely more dominant in the area of coordination than the children attending regular kindergarten program. Attending the additional program activities showed a positive correlation with higher results in screening tests of coordination. There have also been found gender differences, while boys do better than girls in both tests for assess of coordination. This confirms that the planned and programmed physical exercise may well affect the development of coordination.
