Although not much is known about Plato's personal life, we can safely say that he is one of the greatest philosophers of all time. One of Plato's most famous and significant works is The State. Chronologically speaking, the work States belongs to Plato's writings of the mature age. One of the earliest discussions of eugenics comes from Plato's "State". It shows what a just city-state would look like. In his work, Plato proposes a rigged lottery to give superior ruling class members - called "guardians" - a more significant opportunity to reproduce. The offspring of those deemed "inferior" would then "be secretly taken away by the officials and almost certainly left to die, along with the visibly defective offspring of the superior guardians." This part of Plato's philosophy can be compared to eugenic sterilisation. The subject of this paper is Plato's philosophy and the influence of his teachings and works on eugenics throughout history up to the present day. Plato's and other eugenics programs coincide in several elements of implementation. Programs have a crucial role in achieving the goals assigned to the state, that is, to its rulers, but there are also differences between them, the biggest of which is manifested in the goal itself. The goal of Plato's eugenics was to achieve justice, and intellectual and moral perfection, while Nazi eugenics aimed to preserve a "pure" Aryan society through various racial and biological but inhumane measures.
