The quality of life can be defined as a subjective experience of one's own life in certain objective circumstances in which a person lives and is influenced by the personality character that affects the realization of reality and is consequently the result of a person's life experience. It can also be defined as a multidimensional area that implies an objective and subjective component. Quality of life today is concerned with the number of sciences: psychology, sociology, medicine, philosophy, etc. The quality of life testing in adolescents can help to detect their condition and identify potential risks and to prevent the impact of established risk factors on the quality of life of adolescents. Within this paper, in June 2017, a survey was conducted with fifth and sixth grade students in one elementary school in Osijek and their parents. For the purposes of the survey, the PedsQL questionnaire for assessing the quality of life of pediatric subjects, versions for children aged 8 to 12. The PedsQL questionnaire consists of 23 questions, and the questions are divided into four groups: physical health, emotional, social and school functioning. The aim of the research was to examine the quality of life of fifth and sixth grade pupils and younger ones and to determine how much the quality of life of fifth and sixth grade pupils corresponds to the quality of life of younger schoolchildren and pupils (aged 8 to 12) of other European countries. Furthermore, the aim was also to compare whether the assessment of pupils differed from the estimation of their parents. Research findings have shown that parental opinions are somewhat different from those of their children, both in Croatia and elsewhere. Students in Sweden and Finland evaluate their quality of life better than students in Croatia, and the students in Greece and Portugal are worse off.
